2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Habakkuk 2:2-4 KJV
Our next Conference was in Fairhaven. Brother Bates and wife were present.
It was quite a good meeting. On our return to Brother Nichols’, the Lord
gave me a vision and shewed me that the truth must be made plain upon tables
and it would cause many to decide for the truth by the three angels’ messages
with the two former being made plain upon tables. I also saw it was as necessary
for the paper to be published as for the messengers to go, for the messengers
need a paper to carry with them, containing present truth to put in the hands
of those that hear and then the truth would not fade from the mind, and that
the paper would go where the messengers could not go. Other things I saw which
will appear in the paper.
— Ellen White. 1LtMs, Lt 28, 1850, par. 5 - 1LtMs, Lt 28, 1850, par. 6
According to the quote above, the Lord asked for the truth to be made plain and placed on a chart. The 1850 Chart contains the 1st and 2nd angels' messages from Revelation 14:6-8.
I saw that God was in the publishment of the chart by Brother Nichols.
I saw that there was a prophecy of this chart in the Bible,
and if this chart is designed for God’s people, if it [is] sufficient
for one it is for another, and if one needed a new chart painted on
a larger scale, all needed it just as much.
— Ellen White. 1LtMs, Ms 1, 1853, par. 19
According to this quote, the same 1850 Chart fulfills a prophecy in the Bible from the book of Habakkuk.
